United Way of Delhi supports organizations and programs that focus on three specific issues: education, health and livelihood.
Grants are awarded on an annual basis, with a typical funding relationship of two years or more.
United Way of Delhi considers each grant an investment. And to ensure optimum return and selection of the right partners rigorous due diligence process is followed.
The selection of grantee partners is based on their demonstrated potential to produce sustainable and tangible improvement in the lives of their beneficiaries.
Following are the key principals that guide the selection of grantee partners:

The potential to grow in effectiveness & impact.

Ability to replicate

Strong leadership and sound Management

Passion for strong community participation through demonstrated experiences

Innovative and effectiveness of the program

The use of technology and new age media to deliver innovative and creative solutions to issues of education, health and livelihood

Transparency and Integrity in Fund management

Engagement with the Chapter through a constant feedback mechanism
Eligibility Criteria To be eligible to receive funding from United Way of Delhi, the Non Profit agency must meet the following criteria:

Be a registered nonprofit organization in India

Have an active board of directors that meets with a quorum at least quarterly

Have a stated mission and bylaws

The organization should not have any religious or political affiliations.

Conduct an annual audit and submit the audit report to the Charity Commission

Subscribe to the mission of United Way as demonstrated by conforming to the Memorandum of Understanding (to be signed between your agency and United Way)
Considerations for Program Selection:

The programs of the organization should demonstrate sensitivity to gender specific needs and concerns of children, youth and communities served. |

Community Involvement - the programs of the organisation should preferably be rooted in its community and be operating with community input, involvement and investment, thus embracing the community as an integral part of its activities and work. |

Effectiveness - the programs of the organisation should be able to demonstrate sustained, meaningful improvement in the lives of children, youth and communities it serves. |
 |
Empowerment - the programs of the organisation should preferably engage children, youth and communities it serves as active participants in their own growth and development, rather than passive recipients of services. |
 |
Support Volunteerism - the programs of the organisation should be willing to actively involve volunteers in its programs. |
 |
Measurable results - the organizations programs impact should be quantifiable and have measurable indicators for evaluation and monitoring. |
 |
The programs of the organizations should have appropriate and relevant referrals and linkages, thus taking benefit of synergy instead of replication of efforts and resources. |
 |
The use of technology and new age media to deliver innovative and creative solutions to issues of education, health and livelihood would be encouraged. |
 |
Livelihood programs should be market oriented, with forward linkages with the industry or income generating alternatives. |
 |
Education programs should cater to the all round development of beneficiaries and try to bring their education to a logical conclusion. |
 |
Health programs should be designed to address the needs of the community. These could be education or services based. |
